Libri Könyvkereskedelmi Kft. was established in 1991 as the successor to the State Book Distribution Company. Since then, we’ve been on quite a journey. By modernising our inherited shops and scaling up our operations, we’ve grown into one of the nation’s leading booksellers. Today, we’re proud to employ over 600 people and run a thriving online shop at libri.hu.
Our success isn’t just measured by our growing turnover, but by the recognition we’ve received from the industry. Over the years, we have been repeatedly named Bookseller of the Year—an honour voted for by publishers and industry peers alike. We have also been awarded the prestigious Hermes Award by the Ministry of National Cultural Heritage, alongside multiple Superbrands and MagyarBrands titles, judged by independent marketing and advertising experts.
Our shops have picked up some truly prestigious accolades from the Hungarian Association of Book Publishers and Distributors (MKKE) lately. Leading the pack, our Libri Allee branch has been named Capital City Bookstore of the Year three times, while Libri Fórum in Debrecen has secured the title of Regional Bookstore of the Year on two occasions.
We’re incredibly proud of these nods from the industry. However, while the awards are a lovely bonus, our real priority is continuing to earn the respect and trust you place in us every time you walk through our doors. We look forward to seeing you in-store for many years to come.
