The first months of the year in e-commerce are typically quieter. After the Christmas shopping peak, a natural slowdown follows—people tend to spend more cautiously and start setting money aside again, for example for summer holidays.
That said, the beginning of the year still works well for certain segments. Although the first quarter was relatively cold, even a few sunny days were enough to boost consumer activity. As expected, the highest number of orders came from the health and sports categories.

An interesting trend can also be seen in the average order value. Despite fewer purchases in January, we observed a noticeable increase compared to other months. This is mainly driven by post-Christmas sales, which encourage larger purchases, as well as the use of gift vouchers received during the holidays. As a result, customers shop less frequently but tend to spend more per order.
Overall, the first quarter confirms a well-known pattern: while it is a weaker period in terms of volume, it clearly highlights where customer interest shifts at the start of the year.
